At Decker Design, we believe the bathroom can be more than just a functional room; it can be your personal sanctuary. As we look ahead to 2026, bathroom design is shifting toward tactile textures, earthy warmth, and seamless "spa-like" escapes.

1. "Tile Drenching" for a Spa Retreat

One of the biggest trends for 2026 is tile drenching. This involves using the same tile across floors, walls, and even inside shower niches to create an uninterrupted, immersive flow.

  • The Decker Touch: We love using large-format porcelain tiles for this look. By minimizing grout lines, we can make even a smaller La Crosse bathroom feel expansive and high-end.

2. The Return of the Artisanal (Zellige Style)

People are moving away from "perfect" factory-made tiles and embracing the "perfectly imperfect." Zellige-style tiles, known for their handcrafted look with subtle variations in color and texture, are a major trend for 2026.

  • Why it works: These tiles catch the light beautifully and add a sense of history and warmth to your vanity wall or shower surround.

3. Fluted and Sculpted Textures

Flat surfaces are taking a backseat to dimension. Fluted (ribbed) tiles and 3D sculpted surfaces are trending as a way to add tactile interest.

  • Design Tip: A fluted tile accent wall behind your mirror creates a stunning focal point that plays with light and shadow throughout the day.

4. Earthy Tones & "Modern Organic"

The 2026 palette is grounded in nature. Think terracotta, sandy beiges, mossy greens, and soft clay. These tones pair perfectly with the natural wood cabinetry and brass hardware we’re currently installing for many of our local clients.

  • Pro Tip: If you want a timeless look that still feels on-trend, ask us about Stone-Look Porcelain. It gives you the beauty of limestone or slate with the durability needed for a busy Wisconsin household.

5. Bold Checkerboard & Geometric Patterns

For those who want to express more personality, the classic checkerboard pattern is back in a big way, but with a modern twist. Instead of stark black and white, we’re seeing "soft" checkerboards using muted tones like sage and cream or marble-look porcelain.
